HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –The 2017 Biergarten season begins at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center this Thursday, March 16. This family-friendly event takes place in the Davidson Center for Space Exploration each Thursday through Oct. 19 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests may enjoy authentic German food and beer under the Saturn V Moon Rocket while listening to live music in a variety of styles.
The Rocket Center is partnering with AlaBev to offer a special craft brew tasting for the opening night of the Biergarten season. For $10, guests receive a souvenir Biergarten glass and may taste 10 beers from three Huntsville breweries: Blue Pants Brewery; Straight to Ale; and Yellowhammer brewing.
A highlight of Biergarten continues to be the weekly partnership with local non-profit agencies. The charities get to share their causes with guests, and the agencies receive a portion of the food proceeds from their Biergarten night. The Rocket Center was proud to donate more than $17,000 to 33 charities in 2016. The charities for March include North Alabama Veterans & Fraternal Organizations Coalition on March 16, Thrive Alabama March 23, and the Huntsville Community Drumline, which will be performing in Apollo Courtyard on March 30.
Admission to Biergarten is free, and the food and beverages are available for purchase. Dogs are welcome outside in the Apollo Courtyard and on the Apollo Terrace.
