The USSRC is the world premiere site for the exhibit
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The U.S. Space & Rocket Center opens its newest traveling exhibit, “Neighborhood Earth,” with a VIP reception Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. The media is invited to attend the world-premiere of this interactive and immersive voyage through the solar system.
In addition to hands-on exhibits and holographic technology, “Neighborhood Earth” includes a cinematic view of the planets that share our solar system. Guests can also see what it would look like to travel through the red spot on Jupiter or see a sunset on Mars. With the help of motion capture technology, they can become an astronaut on the surface of the various planets.
The Rocket Center is a partner in the creation of “Neighborhood Earth” along with NASA and Australian-based exhibit designers Flying Fish and Chronica Creative. The center’s education staff provided the research for the exhibit, wrote the text and, with NASA, supplied spacesuits, technology and equipment that will be essential to the human and robotic exploration of our planetary neighbors.
The exhibit is included in admission or museum membership.
