Roving Along with Perseverance - A Guided Tour of the Mars 2020 Mission

The Planetarium will be hosting Dr. Sydney Do for Roving Along with Perseverance - A Guided Tour of the Mars 2020 Mission, a free event at the Planetarium on Saturday, September 2nd at 7:00 PM. Dr. Do currently works on the Perseverance Rover Operations Team, and the Planetarium is thrilled to host him for this special event as the Rocket Center unveils the Perseverance, Ingenuity, and Mars Ascent Vehicle models for the main atrium on Sept 1st

 

Dr. Sydney Do Bio

Dr. Sydney Do is a Tactical Downlink Lead on the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover Operations team at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. In this role, he manages the day-to-day assessment of the health, safety, and scientific progress of the Perseverance rover. This information is then used by the operations team to plan rover activities for the next Martian day. When not supporting Perseverance, Sydney serves as landing site selection lead on the next Mars mission, Mars Sample Return – aimed at bringing rock samples collected by Perseverance back to Earth. He has previously worked on the International Mars Ice Mapper and European Sample Fetch Rover mission concepts, as well as led studies to map water distribution across Mars to support planning for future human missions. He holds Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Systems Engineering from MIT, and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Sydney, Australia.
